| 367 | 5 | One Shilling (green) Scott #5a on a folded business letter dated March 25, 1853 from Dudley to Philadelphia. The stamp has 2 full margins (left and top), close cut at right, trimmed lower left corner frame line. It prepaid the entire charge, via British Packet sailing from Liverpool to Boston. The hand stamp 5 cents was prepayment for US postage from Boston to Philadelphia. There is a faint Dudley postmark on the reverse, plus a Liverpool postmark and a ship board docketing mark (oval with L/MR26). The postmark on the stamp is a hand numeral #293 - an error postmark listed in the 1988 Parmenter catalog as 3H05X1 (rarity E - Scarce). Note copy of the cancel information is enclosed with the lot.
