MY FIRST STAMP or HOW I GOT STARTED STAMP COLLECTING

In the late 1950's, my father, a civil engineer, worked for an engineering firm with clients outside the United States.  A cover with the stamp shown arrived at his company's  office. My father obtained the envelope because he thought it might be interesting. With my mother's help, I soaked the stamp off the envelope and saved it. For Christmas that year, I received an H.H. Harris “Ambassador” stamp album. By the time I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona, I upgraded to the “Citation” album. I also have acquired many  “White Ace” pages and binders. Even though I have transferred most of the stamps from it, I still have my original “Ambassador” album. Both of my parents, and my brother, were interested in philately. I became the philatelist in the family. The stamp, Scott C29, shows a French Mystere jet fighter. It is the lowest value of a French airmail set issued in 1956.  It is inexpensive, and easy to find. The highest value in this set, is a 1000F Scott C32. A used copy lists in the 2015 Scott's catalog for $29.00.
